Our first time on the left side of the Land of Oz. In Perth we went to this
lookout fort where they shoot off a canon everyday as a symbol of the
old days of warning sailors about pirates. Jonnie got to push the detonator
even though it was Aveiro’s birthday. The explosion was mighty. We
celebrated with beers at Little Creatures. Our waitress was convinced
that all we Americans eat is meatloaf and sloppy joe’s, so we ordered
some kangaroo to blend in with the locals.

Hello dear fan. Thanks to those of you who came out to December radio shows
we did with Death Cab and others.
We are so glad to be home for the month of January. We will be stirring
up our creative juices in the laboratory this coming month and we are so excited.
Yesterday we had a marvelous time filming for the show From The Basement.
It’s really an amazing show. Queens of the Stone Age taped before us and it was
fun to watch them mess with song arrangements and jam.
http://www.fromthebasement.co.uk/ Our part should air in the Uk next week actually,
so be on the lookout.

First Cold War Kids shows in both Italy and Spain were very successful! Talking to so many
American abroad students made us feel like we weren’t far from home. Jonnie asked
where we could find a great “Tapas bar” and the promoter mistook him for “Topless Bar.”
You can imagine it took a little while to straighten everything out.

Last night in Munich Maust bought a piece of luggage he has been talking about
forever. Rimowa I think. If you see him with it on the street, kick it. It’s supposed
to get better looking with dents.
Debuted a Talking Heads cover of “Mind” tonight that went real well.
