Are you a kinesthetic or a visual learner? I like to drive through the city looking at the artwork of my music, which makes me the former. Regardless of your personality style, the future belongs to
you visual learners. And it is for them that Cold War Kids wishes to announce the digital release of the Behave Yourself EP on itunes December 21st.
We just got word that Flashy Python featuring Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will be opening our January shows. Nathan is gonna play some keyboards with ‘em too!
As promised we will be releasing a 4 song EP called ‘Behave Yourself’ on January 19. We made a 1 minute video with our friend Vern to give you a preview of the songs and the video for ‘Audience’ that will come soon. We had a great time filming it in San Pedro; in our rehearsal space, skating on the docks, driving on the bluffs, shaving in the tide pools and being nude in a friend of a friend’s bathroom. Thanks to O’Brien for letting us borrow the ‘71 Triumph. We are in the studio now writing and recording so we are only going to do 4 shows in January. We are going to find a way to make them special by giving a free recording of each show that you can dowload with ticket purchase. Hopefully. If we can figure out the technology.
Enjoy!

Maust has got some art pieces in the new issue of Penny Ante. The alphabet was really in his favor, placing him next to Ian Mackaye. Teaming up is our buddy D. Simon doing their screwball chakra fluxus for kids visual style of artworks. Maust just started a blog for his art too. He’ll be posting stuff from time to time.
What’s good people? To the nation’s shock and dismay, we lost the MTV award. We had a speech ready that would’ve topped Fiona Apple’s “this world is f*cked” episode.
Kanye was more pissed about it than we were, so that felt good. Thanks to those of you who did vote. We are finishing an EP of probably 5 songs that will release in January called “Behave Yourself.” We will play a select few shows to celebrate. More news on that soon. Otherwise, we are hankering down into album mode. That means our cell phones are turned off so don’t try to reach us. We are reading books, watching movies, and listening to Music; digging up the old stuff we used to skateboard to like Fugazi, REM, and Outkast, and discovering the new stuff like Tinarwein and BEAK>.

Checking in from snowy Rochester, NY. Here’s the new stuff:
1. First show with Death Cab for Cutie and Ra Ra Riot last night in
Toronto went swimmingly. Gonna be a good month.
2. Ben Gibbard and I are doing a benefit for Water Wells for Africa
that involves lots of running and hopefully raising some funds.
Check it: RUN FOR WATER WELLS
We are using the ipods that track your miles and we post them online.
Ben is a real runner and I am already behind, so today I ran 4 miles through
Rochester’s gray and sleet and looked at my ipod and was grief stricken
when I realized I had done something wrong and had no miles. Will
get back on the horse tomorrow.
3. We did an online only video for I’ve Seen Enough with director Sam
Jones. It aspires to shatter all molds of existing online music
videos and will be posted end of April, I think.
Alright Alright people! A little update is in order. Let’s talk about what has been
and what is to come. We have been home for a few weeks now working on
some magic in the studio. But there is too much to say so we must use bullet points(!):
1.Our week in Oz was incredible, once again, thanks!
2. We have SXSW coming in a couple weeks, just one show with M Ward.
3. On the homefront, we are super excited about playing the downtown LA Orpheum.
Aveiro saw PJ Harvey play a year or so ago there and he still has not recovered.
4. We have a new daytrotter session up for grabs. DAYTROTTER.
5. And finally, we are looking forward to a month with Death Cab for Cutie. We are hitting a lot
of towns we haven’t been to for a while, so hopefully you can come out!
Also, Vern Moen has cut up a vid for “I’ve Seen Enough” that you can find out
there on the web. I’ve seen enough.
